The Local Hotel in South Fremantle is one of Freo’s newest old pubs. Originally built in 1897 as the Seaview Hotel, the building was bought by new owners in 2015 and transformed into the Local Hotel. With its chic interiors, garden bar, and casual dining options, the Local is becoming a fast favourite for locals and visitors alike.
Striking the right balance between comfort and style is essential for a pub to succeed, and the Local Hotel team were conscious that their outdoor areas needed to be pleasant for their customers. So they headed to the Bozzy Fremantle showroom and briefed us on what they were after. While the colonial façade of the pub provided a charming place to enjoy a pint, the local weather conditions weren’t always so favourable. How could they protect their patrons from wind and rain, while still maintaining the bright and airy ambiance of the space?
The Bozzy team recommended a bespoke solution using motorised clear blinds with floor plates and roof mounts. The motorised system is easy to use for staff, thanks to an auto crank and strap combination. The floor plates and roof mounts are unobtrusive, and there are no permanent posts installed, meaning when the blinds aren’t in use, they can be neatly stowed. Clear PVC is strong and provides a good seal against wind and rain, while also allowing an easy flow of light. Best of all, this solution means the client can enclose their outdoor area without spoiling the view.
We finished installing the new blinds at the Local Hotel in one day, and the staff couldn’t be happier with the result. Their new blinds are clean, strong, and they smart looking. They provide excellent shelter for the Local’s patrons, allowing them to enjoy the pub’s outdoor area no matter what the weather does.
